Progress

Drywall in, Primer on, Hood Vent for Stove

I’ve learned that with a renovation, progress seems slow. There are days when no one is here working and there are days when we are all bumping into each other. The contractors complete things in stages, which I’m starting to understand. First, the plumbing rough in. Then electrical rough in. Then, wait for inspections. Drywall next. Then primer on the drywall. Putting a hood vent up seemed to take some time. Plumber came back to work on a new flange for toilet in powder room and rough in the plumbing for the utility sink in the garage. Now, we wait for another inspection. We are getting there, slowly but surely. Next week, the floor guy will lay the floor in the kitchen, laundry room and bath. Then we have to leave for a week while he refinishes the floors in the old part of the house.

Old brown baseboards gone!

One of the things I’m really excited about is getting rid of the old brown baseboards downstairs. They were all pulled this week. Tygh and I will paint the ceiling this weekend and try to get a new color on the walls in the old side of the house before the floor is refinished and new baseboards are put up. I don’t want to take a chance on getting paint on our beautiful, new white baseboards!

Intercom System Coming Down

Tygh is taking off the old covers for the intercom system and patching the holes so that we can paint the bedrooms this fall and winter. He’s also repaired areas in the living room and dining room where we had landline service in the olden days.

Area for new utility sink

This property is messy. We have a half acre and love to be outside working in the yard. We decided to add a utility sink in the garage to keep our new powder room nice and clean. We are both really excited at the prospect of washing up after a messy, muddy day in the yard before we enter the house! It added some cost to this project, but long-term we think it will be worth it.

Utility Sink

I can’t wait til this thing is finally hooked up and we can use it!
