Millwork is a much larger part of this project than we would have imagined. There are four large chunks of work that stand out in the budget:
- Cabinets
- Appliances
- Floors
- Millwork
The floors look fantastic even though we haven’t really seen them out in the open yet. We also didn’t really get to watch that work being done. We know it was had work with the guys on the ground putting in new wood, sanding and finishing the floor.
The trim, on the other hand, is happening while we can watch it progress. The meticulous sanding, patching, resanding, priming and the masking being done is quite the operation. It’s hard, skilled work and obviously time-consuming. I can see where the costs are coming from.
I was really quite shocked by the amount of masking that needed to be done. It looks artful, to be honest.
