The ducks are able to fly at will now and have left the yard on a few occasions. I really enjoy watching them take off and land in the yard, but it is nerve-wracking when they fly over the fences.

We were watching a little evening tv and I got up to notice that the ducks were not in the pool where they had been. They also weren’t in their pen. Shelly and I looked in the yard for them and eventually realized that they were gone.
Shelly waited at home and I walked around the block and found them at a neighbor’s house maybe 50 to 75 feet from ours. A family of four was enjoying their company and feeding them oats, grapes and bananas. They spent about 20 minutes with them before I came along.

The children asked me some questions about the ducks, like what their names were and if they were all the same age.
This afternoon they flew out of the yard again, but they flew around the block and landed in our front yard. This was a big improvement over their last flight. Some passers by had witnessed their landing and pointed out where they were. Everyone has been friendly toward them so far and they are a great conversation starter.
