Hungry for a new kitchen

We spent last Saturday looking at ideas for our kitchen remodel.   I really, really want a new kitchen.   Rather than going all the way to the ceiling, the cabinets are oppressively close to the counters.  There’s not enough storage.  Our fancy espresso machine, bread drawer, toaster and microwave take up all available counter space.  At Thanksgiving, I literally had platters and dishes with food piled up on the counter.  There was no room.  The hood fan is not exhausted to the outside.  We literally blow the fan into the kitchen.

Here’s a view of the other side of the kitchen.  Coffeemaker for daily use, sink and a small bit of counter space I use for food prep.

But the thing I think that I dislike the most about the kitchen is the white vinyl floor.  I remember ribbing my mother about this floor as I watched her wipe up spots and spills during gatherings.  Now, I am the one doing the same thing!  Carrying things from the prep space on this counter to the stove is a recipe for spills and mess.

Hopefully, in a few months, we will have a new, updated kitchen.  We’re in the process of choosing cabinets, countertops, backsplash and new appliances.   We are so worried about the cost and frugal by nature but I know it will definitely make this place.   More to come…
