Finally found the sweet spot on the electric stove. Hot enough to cook but not to burn. To turn onions and mushrooms into the delicious caramelized yumminess that is one of my favorite foods.
I’ve watched enough House Hunters over the years to have learned most home buyers prefer gas cooktops. Electric ranges are deal breakers for some people. I was prepared to hate the electric stove. To declare how much better my last gas cooktop controlled the heat than the stove I’m cooking on now. To be fair, it’s taken a few weeks to get used to. The first morning or so, I made the mistake of leaving the oatmeal I’d just cooked on the hot element with the heat off while I went off to take a shower. It was a gummy, sticky mess when I came back. Yeah, I have to adjust the heat a bit more on the electric stove and remember not to leave the pan on the hot element but it’s definitely not the ordeal that I’ve seen home buyers complain about.
