I’ve been meaning to post a few pics from our holiday gatherings at the house.
These holidays were the hardest I’ve ever experienced. The loss of my beloved brother in August is still fresh and painful. I am prone these days to bouts of raw emotion and grief.
But we have two beautiful grandkids to create holiday memories for. And that’s really how I made it through. You put a smile on your face and keep moving forward.

We’ve decorated cookies together at the holidays since our children were little. It’s a tradition everyone loves. Lots of sugar cookies in fun shapes, frosting and sprinkles. Everyone gets to take a plate home. It’s a fun couple of hours of family time.

We spent time Christmas evening with my sister-in-law and niece and nephews. This is a hard time for them as well. It was nice to be with them. We opened gifts, shared a meal, played a game and shared some memories of their dad.
We had some fun gifting The Ugly Fish to Becca and her fiance. Regifting the fish has been a tradition in the family for probably 25 years. It was given to her dad as a gag gift by my mom and step-dad. Each year someone fills it with M&M’s, wraps it up and gifts it to another family member.
It just seemed fitting for Becca and Ryan to receive it this year. We all had a good laugh when she opened it.
