I have little motivation to do much today. I have a sore throat, cough, sneeze and generally feeling less than 100%. To add to my malaise, my walks with Nina have been getting wetter and wetter.
There is so much water, that it has started to drip down our chimney. This is the first time we have seen that happen so we called a chimney company to come out and investigate. Stay tuned for that.

We are also about to get our roof replaced, but this relies on there being a couple of dry days in a row for the crew to get out here and make it happen.

It has been a pretty mild winter so far this year. We haven’t seen more than a little bit of chunky-style rain to pass for a snow-day and the temperature has been hovering between 45 and 55 degrees for most of the month of January. But it has certainly been wet.

One benefit of the relatively warm temperatures is that we are starting to use the greenhouse already… I’m growing a little bit of salad out there and things aren’t too cold for that. The days are short, but that doesn’t seem to be creating much of a problem.

One way we beat the weather is to bake goodies and make the house warm and smelling of rising dough, cinnamon, homemade soups, pot pies and more. As far as I am concerned this is a fair trade. =)
